Jingdong county in Yunnan's Pu'er city has launched the city's first photovoltaic power generation project, according to the Pu'er Daily newspaper. The solar installation will have a 5 KW capacity when finished.
The project was undertaken by Pu'er Shengji Photovoltaics Technology Enterprise and cost 60,000 yuan ($9,426) to install. The system is expected to generate electricity of more than 25 kilowatt-hours (kWh).
As Pu'er city's first professional-oriented enterprise specializing in solar photovoltaics, Shengji provides services of research development, project construction, operation and maintenance.
According to Xiao Huiliang, general manager of the company, Pu'er city has the advantage of developing its photovoltaic industry since it receives abundant sunlight hours.
The photovoltaic power generation industry has been encouraged on a national level. For every kilowatt-hour (kWh) power generated via photovoltaic technology, the government will provide subsidies of 0.42 yuan. Accordingly, the new photovoltaic membrane power generation project in Pu'er will help to save more than 10,000 yuan every year.
