Zhouzhuang hosts China's top children's book awards
(chinadaily.com.cn)The award ceremony of the sixth "Zhouzhuang Cup" National Children's Literary Short Story Contest was held in the famous water town of Zhouzhuang in Jiangsu province on May 8.
The only prize of its kind in China, the annual award aims at promoting the creation of literary short stories for children and has received enthusiastic support from children's authors, critics and enthusiasts.
It is jointly sponsored by the Shanghai Writers Association, Jiangsu Writers Association, Jiangsu Juvenile and Children's Publishing House and Jiangsu Literature magazine, and organized by Jiangsu Shuixiang Zhouzhuang Tourism Co.
More than 2,500 tales were submitted to this year's contest. After several rounds of strict reviewing, these were narrowed down to just 25 remarkable works to win the final awards.
The grand prize went to a story titled Draw a Moon for the Lonely Night Sky by Jia Ying, an author from Northeast China's Liaoning province.
Unlike previous years, most of the prize winners in 2017 were first-time entries to the contest and written by young authors.
