Come to Zhouzhuang to spend New Year

There is no better time to plan a trip to Zhouzhuang than during the traditional celebrations of Chinese New Year.

As the Spring Festal approaches, a dazzling array of traditional New Year celebrations are set to unfold in the ancient water town, including whipping the spring ox and welcoming the God of Wealth, many of which you will be able to take part in.

On Chinese New Year's Eve, many local residents will stay up all night to get a fresh start on the first day of the New Year. On the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, there will be a colorful parade down the town's waterways as people go to greet the God of Wealth.

There are also many traditional foods consumed during the Spring Festival. Many dishes, such as round rice cakes, are favored because they represent the reunion of the family during this family-oriented holiday. Local specialties such as Wansan pork shanks and Fu'an cake can also be found on many dining tables during the festival.
