A delegation from Zhouzhuang, a renowned ancient water town in East China's Jiangsu province, made an appearance at the 2019 World Tourism Market (WTM) at Custom House, Excel, London on Nov 4.
The fair, now in its 40th year, attracted roughly 50,000 people from across the globe, including exhibitors, players and members of the media in the travel and tourism industry.
This year marks the first time that a delegation from Zhouzhuang has attended the WTM and comes as part of the water town's efforts to raise its international profile.
Visitors were impressed by images of Zhouzhuang's landscapes, small bridges, winding rivers and quaint architecture.
The town, which has been dubbed "Venice of the East", attracts millions of visitors from home and abroad every year and is noted for its rich history, elegant riverside views and well-preserved buildings.
The most notable structures in the town include Twins Bridge, Zhang House and Shen House.
At the fair, Zhouzhuang teamed up with the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, China Eastern Airlines and the Shanghai branch of China International Travel Service Limited to promote tourism resources in the Yangtze River Delta region.
