Topic: Grand Slam reaction

Chinese tennis star Li Na claimed Asia's first Grand Slam title at the weekend when she won the French Open, beating reigning champion Francesca Schiavone in straight sets.

She deserves more applause if she becomes Olympic champion next year. For the benefit of Li, we should not flatter her.

It's said that Li Na's Grand Slam title is equal in significance to Liu Xiang's gold at the 2004 Olympics. However, for me the peak was when the national women's soccer team beat Norway 5-0.

In her winner's speech, Li Na extended her great thanks to sponsors rather than the country, although it has nothing to do with patriotism. She loves her country and she sang the national anthem wholeheartedly. Patriotism is not a verbal thing.

Li Na won a Grand Slam, Zheng Jie and Yan Zi won women's doubles titles and Sun Tiantian has a mixed-doubles title to her name. Why are only the women succeeding? How about Chinese men?

The gaokao, or national college entrance examination, starts on Tuesday. Approximately 9.33 million students nationwide will sit the test, evoking fear and nostalgia in equal measure among netizens.

The gaokao for us is not a destination but a transfer station. College education is only a coupon that ensures some priorities, but it doesn't mean it can give you everything. Although the exam is just one important test in our life, we have to take it seriously. I wish everyone luck.

There are two exam spots in my district and, since this morning, the police have been checking the areas around them. Residents are required to keep their pets away so that students won't be bothered by noise. I can feel a nervous air.

Achieving a good result is not a decisive factor in our lives. Actually many of my successful friends don't have prominent educational backgrounds. As long as you have an ideal and know how to effectively do things, you can succeed.

Topic: Dead poet society

On June 5, young people in hanfu - a traditional robe from the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), performed a ritual at Xuanwu Lake in Nanjing to pay tribute to Qu Yuan, a poet who committed suicide after being treated unjustly. Dragon Boat Festival was created to commemorate him.

People should pay more attention to our traditional culture. Koreans and Japanese have proved it possible to preserve many traditional courtesies while maintaining rapid economic growth. Moreover, traditional culture helps in promoting harmony.

For more people to understand the culture of Han people, they should pay more attention to hanfu. Next time when you see this kind of robe, remember it is hanfu.

It doesn't matter what you wear. The point is you have to understand the spirit of Qu Yuan. I'm curious to know how many netizens would be willing to fully dedicate themselves to striving for the people's interests.
