By chance, Edgardo passes by and comes to her rescue. They fall into love with each other ever since. As soon as he knows the fact, Enrico feels furious and even desires to take revenge no matter how hard priest Raymundo tries to absolve Lucia. Out of political ambition, Enrico asks his sister to abandon Edgardo and marry his colleague Lord Arturo Bucklaw, which Lucia rejects flatly. Soon later Edgardo would visit France, so he comes to bid Lucia adieu. On that occasion, they both swear to love each other all lifelong and exchange their rings as a show of eternal love. Later Edgardo writes many letters to Lucia, all of which are intercepted by Enrico's aide Normanno. Enrico and Normanno even fake letters to tell Lucia that Edgardo has got a new girlfriend. Upon receiving those letters, Lucia gets overcome with grief. With Raymundo's persuasion, Lucia falls into the trick and agrees to marry Arturo who can help pull her brother out of a predicament. As soon as Lucia signs her name at the wedding, Edgardo returns and appears all of a sudden. He damns her for betraying him and gets his ring back.

The Adventures of Pinocchio

Date: April 2-3 - 10:30 am

Venue: The Red Theater, Beijing

Price: 50-360 yuan

The Adventures of Pinocchio is a novel for children by Italian author Carlo Collodi, written in Pescia. It is about the mischievous adventures of an animated marionette named Pinocchio and his father, a poor woodcarver named Geppetto. It is considered a canonical piece of children's literature and has inspired hundreds of new editions, stage plays, merchandising and movies, such as Walt Disney's iconic animated version and commonplace ideas such as a liar's long nose. According to extensive research done by the Fondazione Nazionale Carlo Collodi in late 1990s and based on UNESCO sources, it has been adapted in over 260 languages worldwide. On Christmas Eve, with only $1.87 in hand, and desperate to find a gift for Jim, Della sells her hair for $20 to a nearby hairdresser named Madame Sofronie, and eventually finds a platinum pocket watch fob chain for Jim's watch for $21. Satisfied with the perfect gift for Jim, Della runs home and begins to prepare pork chops for dinner. At 7 o'clock, Della sits at a table near the door, waiting for Jim to come home. Unusually late, Jim walks in and immediately stops short at the sight of Della, who had previously prayed that she was still pretty to Jim. Della then admits to Jim that she sold her hair to buy him his present. Jim gives Della her present - an assortment of combs, useless now that her hair is short. Della then shows Jim the chain she bought for him, to which Jim says he sold his watch to get the money to buy her combs. Although Jim and Della are now left with gifts that neither one can use, they realize how far they are willing to go to show their love for each other, and how priceless their love really is.
