Anti-terror support by Pakistan praised

China's top political adviser, Yu Zhengsheng, met with Zubair Mahmood Hayat, chairman of Pakistan's Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, on Thursday and hailed the all-weather friendship between the countries. Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said China appreciates Pakistan's firm support in fighting terrorism. Zubair said Pakistan shares that goal, and also wants to provide security for the construction of an economic corridor.

Official meets KMT party chairwoman

Zhang Zhijun, head of the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, stressed cross-Straits communication based on the 1992 Consensus in a meeting on Thursday with Hung Hsiu-chu, chairwoman of the Taiwan-based Kuomintang party, who is visiting the mainland and will attend the 9th Straits Forum in Fujian province. The CPC is willing to keep communication open, strengthen exchanges and dialogue, and maintain peaceful development of cross-Straits relations, Zhang said.
