Updated: 2008-08-11 12:56  A score of preliminary matches continued beach volleyball action yesterday at the Chaoyang Park Beach Volleyball Ground in Beijing. In women's action the US beat Japan, Austria took Greece and Germany beat South Africa all by 2-0. Mexico fell to Brazil, Cuba also beat Norway by 2-1 and China fell Greece by 2-1. The defending champions are the Americans Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor, who easily won their opening match against Japan's Mika Teru Saiki and Chiaki Kusuhara.
