BOCOG holds 73rd EB meeting

The meeting debriefed a report on the core image scheme and the uniform design for the torch relay of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The core image is the basic element of the image and look of the torch relay, which will be used in uniform making, vehicle fleet decoration, promotion materials, website, flag as well as background board for the torch relay.
Harmony should be the theme for the design of the core image of the torch relay. An important component of the look of the torch relay, the uniform will play a significant part in inspiring people's passion for the activity, cultivating the event's operational environment and the festive atmosphere on the route, and toning up the pride and honor with the torchbearers and their assistants.
The meeting pointed out that the core image of the torch relay need to work in concert with the Olympic images and elements that had been completed. Whilst reflecting the visual requirements and characteristics of the torch relay, the image should also stay in line with the general image of the Olympic Games.
With the design based on the ideal of "harmony," the uniform for the activity will reflect the Chinese culture, highlight the practical functions, and showcase the theme of a harmonious journey of the torch relay.
BOCOG President Liu Qi, who is also member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of CPC, presided over the meeting.
