IABA visits BOCOG to check Olympic boxing preparations

At the invitation of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), a six-member delegation of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) led by president Ching-kuo Wu is paying a visit to BOCOG from February 4 to 6.
The two sides signed the part on principles of a Memorandum of Understanding on Monday morning. Expressing his full support for BOCOG's efforts on behalf of AIBA, Wu said he was impressed by BOCOG's preparatory work for the boxing events of the 2008 Olympic Games.
After the signing ceremony, BOCOG Executive Vice-President Yang Shu'an informed the press of the Olympic preparations for the boxing events. Wu told the journalists that he was confident about the success of the events.
The AIBA delegation is to have further talks with BOCOG on the boxing test events, the design of the competition ring, accommodation, transport and other matters. It will also tour the Workers' Indoor Arena (competition venue) and Ditan Gymnasium (training venue) on Monday and Tuesday.
In the past 20 years since revival of boxing in China, AIBA has had good relations with and given much assistance to the Chinese Olympic Committee and the Chinese Boxing Association, and given enthusiastic support to Beijing's bid to host the Olympic Games. Embarking on busy preparations for the boxing events, BOCOG has maintained close links with AIBA.
