The First Freestyle Skiing Champion
Freestyle skiing was added to the Olympic program in 1992. Donna Weinbrecht was a heavy favourite at the Albertville Games. Skiing to the accompaniment of the song "Rock' n' Roll High School" by the Ramones, Weinbrecht completed a conservative, but clean run and edged Yelizaveta Kozhevnikova for first place. Although she dominated the World Cup season in 1993-1994, Weinbrecht placed only seventh at the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics. She competed in the Olympics again in 1998 and placed fourth.
