Alpine Come From Behind

Petra Kronberger was such a well-rounded skier that in December 1990 she won a World Cup race in each of the four Alpine events and then added a combined victory the following month. At the 1992 Olympics, she took a big lead in the downhill portion of the Alpine combined. Her first slalom run was only the sixth best of the field, but her second slalom run was faster than any of the other skiers and she won a clear victory. A week later, Kronberger was in third place after the first run of the slalom event, but again she produced a strong final run to earn her second gold medal.
