Took up gymnastics in a local spare-time sports school in 1979 at the age of eight. Entered the Jiangxi provincial diving team at 10. Joined the national team at 14.

1987 National Games - 1st platform
1988 Seoul Olympic Games - 1st platform
1989 Beijing World Cup - 1st team & mixed team

Majored in overseas Chinese affairs in the Literature department of Hainan University after retirement in 1991. Now an official in the Sports Scientific Research Department of the Hainan Culture and Sports Bureau.
