Qingdao Olympic Games prep now open

An exhibition on the preparations for the 2008 Olympic Games has been opened at the Qingdao Library.
The seven-day exhibition, organized by the central offices in charge of civility and sport and the Media and Communications Department of BOCOG - will run from July 8-14.
At the opening ceremony, Wang Hui, Deputy Director of the Media and Communications department BOCOG, said the free exhibition, themed, "Welcome the Olympics, Improve Manners and Foster New Attitudes," would encourage more people in Beijing and the Olympic co-host cities to take notice of and support the Olympic preparations by getting involved and realizing the motto "I participate, I contribute, and I enjoy."
The exhibition will serve to disseminate knowledge about the Olympic Games and promote the Olympic Spirit, creating a deeper level of nationalism and lead to improved manners and new attitudes for a "high-level Olympics" with "distinguishing features."
The exhibition is comprised of three categories - "The progress of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games preparations," "Welcome the Olympics, Improve Manners and Foster New Attitudes," and "China's Olympics: A Century-old dream comes true", and occupies a space of 700 sq m, with 160 displays exhibiting over 300 photographs and models as well as and rare pieces never before seen by the public.
There are also three special displays showcasing the Olympic preparations made by the city of Qingdao, the host city of the Sailing competitions for the 2008 Olympic Games.
The "Olympic Hall of Time" is a new addition to the exhibition and uses pictures and descriptions to illustrate the development of the modern Olympic Games over the past 100 years beginning with the first Olympic Games in 1896 in Athens … through the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad in Athens in 2004.
The exhibition makes use of 3-D projections, multimedia playback and other hi-tech presentation tools to bring life to the six years of preparation work accomplished so far for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
After its run in Qingdao, the exhibition will move on to and rotate among the other Olympic co-host cities.
