China win women's skeet with new world record

NICOSIA -- Chinese women shooters on Wednesday won the gold medal for skeet women's team with a new world record of 214 hits at the World Shooting Championships 2007 in Nicosia, Cyprus.

The previous record of 211 hits was set up by the United States at the Zagreb World Cup in August, 2006.
This time, the United States ranked second with 210 hits and Italy third with 204 hits.
Christine Brinker from Germany secured the individual gold medal with 98 hits out of 100 targets.
China's Wei Ning finished second with 97 hits, followed by Italy's Chiara Cainero with 96 hits.
Chinese veteran Zhang Shan, who ranked ninth, told Xinhua that five of the six finalist shooters had obtained the title of world champion before, which means all of them have the strength and chance to win the gold medal.
