Tickets for 2008 Paralympics to sell in October

More than 1.5 million tickets for the 2008 Paralympic Games will go on sale next month at at prices lower than tickets for the Olympic Games, organizers said last Thursday.
Tang Xiaoquan, executive vice president of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympics (BOCOG), told a press conference that the tickets for the Paralympic Games would be cheaper than those to Olympic events but didn't give any details.
Prices for Olympic competition sessions range between 30 yuan (US$3.9) and 1,000 yuan (US$126), while the tickets to the opening ceremony cost from 200 yuan to 5,000 yuan.
"We will announce the ticketing program after the International Paralympic Committee approves it," said Tang, also the president of the Executive Board of the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF).
"We plan to start selling the tickets next month when the second stage of the ticket sales for the Olympics get underway," she added.
The Paralympic Games will take place during September 6-17, 2008.
