LONDON, Jan 14 - South African double amputee Oscar Pistorius appears certain on Monday to fail in his bid to compete in the Beijing Olympics this year with carbon fibre blades attached to his legs.
The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) will release at 0900GMT the conclusions of a study into the prosthetic devices known as Cheetah Flex-Feet.
Peter Bruggeman, a scientist from the German Sports University in Cologne who conducted the investigation, has already told the German newspaper Die Welt that the devices give Pistorius a significant advantage over able-bodied athletes of similar ability.
Pistorius, 21, who won a gold and bronze at the 2004 Athens Paralympics, said on Friday he would appeal "at the highest levels" if the IAAF ruled him out of the Beijing Games.
