Patrice Leconte, one of the leading directors of the French cinema is among five of the world's top directors invited to create a vision of this year's Olympic host city.
The French director says Monet's impressionist paintings were much on his mind when he made the Beijing film.
He set out to interpret the ancient capital using an impressionist approach, hoping to capture the imagination of people around the world and draw them to the city.
After viewing Leconte's work, Chinese film director Zhang Yang observed, every Beijinger may see himself in the film because the people of Beijing represent the city.
They are the lead players in films that introduce Beijing to the world.
