CARSON, California _ Luis Angel Landin converted a penalty kick in the 22nd minute to give Mexico a 1-1 draw with Canada in Group B of CONCACAF men's Olympic qualifying Wednesday.
The game was the second of a doubleheader. Guatemala defeated Haiti 1-0 in the first game on Marvin Avila's goal in the 27th minute.
Guatemala has three points to lead Group B, while Canada and Mexico share second place with one point each.
Landin tied the score after Canada's Andrew Hainault brought Cesar Villaluz down from behind on a breakaway.
Canada took a 1-0 lead in the third minute after Andrazes Ornoch intercepted defender Julio Dminguez's clearance and passed to Will Johnson, who converted from 10 meters.
Canada had a chance to break the tie in the 40th minute, but goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa tipped Tosaint Ricketts' header over the crossbar with his left hand.
Canadian goalkeeper Josh Wagenaar kept Mexico from winning in second-half stoppage time by deflecting Edgar Castillo's shot with his left hand.
The top two finishers in each four-team group will advance to the March 20 semifinals at Nashville, Tennessee.
