BRASILIA -- The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced on Sunday that Fluminense playeres Thiago Neves and Thiago Silva were taken off the lineup for the friendly game against the Brazilian national team.
The friendly match is scheduled to take place on June 22 and will serve as a practice game for the Brazilian Olympic team.
The opponents of the Brazilian Olympic team will be the all-stars of the teams within the state of Rio de Janeiro. However, Silva and Neves were discarded. This comes as good news for Fluminense head coach Renato Gaucho.
The coach is pleased that his players will be available for the practice leading up to the finals of the Libertadores Cup.
The team will be traveling to Quito, Ecuador, on Sunday night where they will stay and practice for their first game of the finals of the Libertadores Cup on June 25.
Their Ecuadorian opponent is the team of LDU. The second and last game of the Cup will be held at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro on July 2.
