ISLAMABAD -- A 100-member youth delegation of Pakistan left for China late Sunday for a week-long visit.
The youth delegation's visit is of special significance since it happened prior to the Beijing Olympics, said Yao Jing, charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, at a send-off banquet earlier in the day.
By visiting the Olympic stadiums in Beijing, the delegation members will have a chance to catch a glimpse of the preparation work of the upcoming Olympics, Yao said.
They will also feel the enthusiasm of the Chinese people for the Olympic Games, to be held on August 8-24, Yao added.
Yao said he wished the exchanges between the peoples of Pakistan and China, especially the youth of the two countries, could be of even more in-depth and more frequent in the future.
Secretary of Youth Affairs of Pakistan Ashfaq Mahmoud said that Pakistan has attached great importance to the youth exchanges between the two countries.
The delegation members, all of whom are excellent young people of Pakistan, will become friendship ambassadors between Chinese and Pakistani people, he said.
They will tell what they have seen and experienced in China to more young people in Pakistan, through which the China-Pakistan friendship will be passed on from generation to generation, he added.
During their stay from July 28 to August 5 in China, the delegation members will visit Beijing, Yichang, Wuhan and Shenzhen.
