Liu Xiang: The training is busy

Updated: 2008-08-02 12:52

(July 5, 2008)

The training is so busy at the moment. My leg is getting better, so there is no need to worry about me.

It has been a long time for me to be here again. I am busy training everyday, going between the apartment and the training place is my routine. Sometimes, I surf the Internet or listen to music.

I know many people worry about me a lot because of my leg injury. But the situation is getting better and better and it actually doesn’t effect me any more. I am very relaxed now.

Anything can happen before the Olympic Games, so making yourself relax is the most important thing. Anyway, the Olympics itself is actually just a game, so I will regard it as another game, at least that won’t make me too nervous. It will be good enough if I have tried my best.

Many friends ask me about the plans for my coming birthday, especially those who leave messages on my official website. Ha ha, to be frank, I have no plans for it now. Time flies! I just want to make everybody happy. For me, I hope to try my best to do the training before the Games and devote myself to the competition .

I have to do some recovery training later, and I send my greetings to everybody.

Introduction

Liu Xiang is a champion hurdler.

In 2002, he launched his career in fine style by winning the first IAAF Grand Prix in Lausanne with a world youth and Asian record time of 13.12 seconds in the 110 meters hurdles.

He has since made the finals at the IAAF World Championships and IAAF World Indoor Championships, twice. IN two of the three American hurdling great, Allen Johnson, has taken the main prize, but last in May at Osaka, Liu managed to beat Johnson with an Asian-record time of 13.06 seconds.

Still young, Liu improved steadily, and won a gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics, in the 110m hurdles. In the final, he equaled the world record of 12.91 seconds held since 1993 by Colin Jackson of Wales. That was the first time an athlete of non-African descent dipped under 13 seconds for the 110 meter hurdles.
