Earlier Wednesday, IOC president Jacques Rogge called for a meeting with his executive board. When asked by reporters if the torch relay was discussed, several board members replied that "nothing was said."
The London and Paris leg of the Beijing Olympics torch relay had been disrupted by protests of Tibetan separatists and their supporters, and it sparked speculations that the IOC might consider halting the torch relay.
Meanwhile, in San Francisco, the torch is scheduled to make its only appearance in North America during a 130-day, around-the-globe journey that began with its lighting in Greece, birthplace of the Olympics.
