Strange fear of socialism

Many people may ask: Why do anti-China forces around the world hate the Beijing Olympic Games so much that they will do anything to spoil it? The primary reason is China's rise which fills them with an unbearable fear, says a signed article in Hong Kong-based newspaper Wen Wei Po. The following is an excerpt:

China's rise follows the path of "socialism with Chinese characteristics", which generates in them political hatred. They believe China should not be allowed to rise, become powerful and prosperous or influence world affairs; China's growing strength threatens their global interests and hegemonic position.

Even more unthinkable to them is the fact that China sticks to the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics. They believe China should become one of their "yes-men" molded to their political design with their brand of "universal values".

As China becomes stronger, it is only natural for them to turn their fear and hatred into such rabid acts as trying to sabotage the Beijing Olympic Games.
