If railway services can be improved during Spring Festival traffic season, going home by train may not be a nightmare for many Chinese, says an article in People's Daily. The following is an excerpt: On Jan 13, Beijing Railway Administration announced that it has begun to release official information about the Spring Festival traffic rush on the websites of People's Daily and Sohu. These include information on tickets, temporarily added trains and ticket counters. It has won wide acclaim from the public. In this year's peak traffic season before Spring Festival, government bodies concerned have paid more attention to services for passengers. Such services become one of the highlights during the traffic rush. Currently, the railways lack enough capacity to deal with the traffic rush, so how to improve the Spring Festival railway services is rather important. The good services cannot only properly allocate railway resources and prompt efficient operations, but also warm the hearts of passengers and assure those who are yet to buy tickets. Sincere and quality services will enable the passengers to understand the predicament caused by the traffic rush, and contribute to the social harmony during this special season. In the long run, we must expand the railway transportation capacity to mitigate the problem of the rush period traffic and improve the services accordingly.
