Managers should shoulder stresses

Corporate managers rather than employees should take the lead in cutting expenses in a financial downturn, says an article in the Beijing News. The following is an excerpt: Zhang Fang, a deputy to the Guangdong provincial People's Congress, recently said that a financial crisis presented the best opportunity for an enterprise to learn how to control costs . To answer his call, the management of the enterprise where he works will travel on economy air tickets rather than first-class this year. Meanwhile, they will stop holding meetings at hotels and lay out plans to reduce costs in all sectors under the condition that no employees be laid off because of the crisis. In the face of it, the management of this enterprise has set a good example for others in terms of cost control. Compared with management, lowly employees have less ability to resist the effects of a crisis. So, we should carefully protect their interests and prevent them from being exploited by evil people under the guise of economic recovery during a downturn.
