Comment on "Work toward fighting social injustice" (China Daily, May 26)
It is a well-written article. I agree that deep-rooted social injustice is the cause of many social problems. But the lack of necessary outlets for people to vent their frustration and discontent is also the cause of suicides and murders.
Admittedly, it's a tricky issue in China. I am not totally against the government's policy on this issue, because China has a huge population which is difficult to manage and control. But not having necessary channels of expression is just like keeping the lid on a boiling pot, which eventually could explode. That is the main reason why people take extreme steps. Listening to people's voices more often and improving their lives are better ways to curb suicides and homicide. I think we need to expedite social reform for that.
