Comment on "Fewer students sit college entrance exam" (China Daily, June 8)
For students who take the National College Entrance Exam, the decreasing number of candidates is good news because they have a greater chance of receiving higher education. But for me, a teacher in a private university, it means bad news.
As the number of students taking the exam falls, teachers in our university are forced to enroll at least one student each or not get even the basic salary in July. It's really a shame.
