Comment on "Rich Chinese reluctant to meet with US barons" (China Daily, Sept 6)
The reason that Jin Jinping, director of the center for nonprofit organizations law in Peking University, gives for rich Chinese' reluctance to meet with US philanthropists is ridiculous.
He says China's nouveaux riches are concerned about their future well-being because the State does not provide enough welfare. But if you are a billionaire with a brain you should be able to plan your family's well-being and still make some donation to charity.
The government is doing its best to take care of the millions of common people and this must remain its priority. The billionaires have different means to take care of their families without the government's support.
Therefore, what Jin says is just an excuse for rich Chinese to hide their greed.
