Comment on "Careless trash could be costly" (China Daily, Nov 20)
I am afraid to say that the government has not done enough to educate citizens and workers about garbage collection. The place where I live has no proper garbage separation or collection rules.
Of course, there are garbage bins in the streets that have recyclable and non-recyclable marks on them. But they are of little or no use because people don't know how to separate recyclable waste from non-recyclables. I don't know how to dispose of dangerous wastes such as batteries. Until some years ago, a store used to collect the used batteries. But it has discontinued this practice of late. So I have to keep the used batteries and wait until the government starts a proper garbage collection program.
