A survey shows that almost 83 percent of respondents believe we are in an era of disguise. Excessively embellished photos exist everywhere and many "decorate" their manners and conceal their true colors. China Daily mobile news readers share their views.
In a society of fierce competition and complicated interpersonal relationships, sometimes we have to assume a disguise, showing courtesy and pretending to be friendly to people we actually do not like. Therefore, it is in fact positive for us to remain disguised while doing things we hate, but which we have to do. However, it is rather disgusting to gain notoriety through disguise in an affected manner, such as the emergence of show-off girls on the Internet.

It is human nature to appreciate beauty, so it is understandable for people to embellish their photos. However, true charm is eternal, while disguised deeds are fleeting and superficial. Since it takes time to improve oneself, it is all right to assume a disguise to some extent, but it will only attend the superficial and neglect the fundamental if disguise prevails in daily life.

Disguise has become a popular means in modern society to make life better. Everyone wants to show what's good in oneself to win popularity or admiration, but disguise should be limited and for a good purpose. In fact, we cannot refuse to recognize disguise only because some people have assumed an overly feigned manner.

The more one lacks something, the more one tries to cover up who they are and pretend to be something they are not. Though sometimes the fake can be passed off as genuine, truth will be exposed one day. Everyone should demonstrate their most genuine aspect, even though imperfect, because we have the right to choose what is true and most beautiful. Hopefully there will be less disguise but truth and beauty in the world.

Perhaps it is because of the coming of an era of disguise that people have gradually gained the capability to distinguish what is true from what is false. There are inevitably skeptics who tend to think people have ulterior motives, but a society full of distrust is by no means desired by people, so I still hope, though it may sound naive, that relationships between people can be more simple and sincere.

Why is disguise, which is considered hypocritical, still followed by so many people? In fact, to label certain words and deeds as disguise has resulted in social effects to some extent. Disguise is only a way of living a more decent life. Everyone needs to learn how to accept different lifestyles. As long as we can distinguish between disguise and hypocritical behavior such as showing-off, we will be free from being so picky.

Disguise is a born gift of animals in nature for survival in evolution. Some people choose to disguise themselves just to adapt better to increasingly fiercer social competition.
