Comment on "Debate: Yue Yue" (China Daily, Oct 24)
As to the tragedy, I think the parents should not have let their 2-year-old daughter wander on the road. The parents were somewhat irresponsible and the result was terrible.
But it's hard to believe that people didn't see a little girl bleeding and struggling for life on the street, especially after she was knocked down a second time.
Moreover, police should enforce the traffic laws strictly. There are a lot of wrongdoings around us that should be corrected. People often jump red lights, and drivers without driving licenses or having one but lacking proper driving skills are not uncommon on the streets.
More importantly, a legal trial that fined a good Samaritan should be thought-provoking.
Sometimes people say China is too big and there are too many people. But all Chinese people should face up to the tragedy and try to reverse the moral decline.
