Comment on "'Bad' students seated outside classroom" (China Daily website, Nov 9)
Some naughty or ill-performing students in a middle school in Jinxian county of Jiangxi province were reportedly made to take an exam outside their classroom, inviting widespread criticism.
It's unfair to evaluate the students only on the basis of academic performance. Chinese students have very little leisure time, and many of them study from morning to night. Besides, interactions between parents and teachers are far from enough.
Facing unruly children, some teachers lecture or punish them, and at times ask them to stand during class.
I think more regular interaction between parents and teachers could help teachers deal with ill-performing students. Also, parents should visit teachers often to discuss the performance of their children and help them improve.
