Days of violence must end in Egypt
The situation in Egypt must be brought under control, said an article in the People's Daily (excerpts below).
Neither the military nor the Muslim Brotherhood has shown any willingness for reconciliation.
Egypt is a vitally important country, both regionally and globally. It cannot be allowed to drift into an abyss of violence and insecurity.
The most urgent task is to stop the bloodshed. That must be done immediately. The more killings, the more fertile the ground for even greater violence.
The public interest has to be paramount. No solution is worthy of the name unless the public can feel free to go about their business and feel secure.
Restraint from violence is a virtue.
There is no other choice. Both parties in Egypt must realize that the guns have to fall silent first before any solution is agreed.
This is the only rational choice for all parties in Egypt now however complicated the situation is.
