The Third Plenary Session of the 18th Communist Party of China Central Committee 十八届三中全会(Shi ba jie san zhong quan hui)
The Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee will be held from Nov 9th to 12th in Beijing. People have pinned their expectations and hopes for further reforms on the gathering, which is widely regarded as taking place at a critical juncture.
The session will map out the road ahead, and observers believe it will include reforms in key areas, such as urbanization and land, finance and taxation, changes to the administrative system, a strengthened anti-corruption system, and further opening-up policies.
The CPC Central Committee holds several plenary meetings during each of its five-year terms of service, and traditionally important economic and reform decisions are made during the third plenary session. At the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee in 1978, Deng Xiaoping put forward his vision of reform and opening-up. While the Third Plenary Session of the 14th CPC Central Committee in 1993 began the development of a "socialist market economy".
