Beijing opera used to be welcomed nationwide decades ago. But as time went by, new technologies developed. Now we have computers, TV sets, cell phones, etc, to replace these traditional ways of entertainment. I feel kind of sorry for the situation for Beijing opera. Younger generations nowadays seldom enjoy it, me included. I think only people as old as my grandparents would listen to Beijing opera. But it would be unfortunate if we lost this great art. So people do have the responsibility to pass it on.
