Wuyuan(婺源) is characterized by its village and is most famous for the rape flower and Hui-style architecture. The beauty of the village lies in its coherent harmony, which opens picturesque scenes for every village you see and every place you step in. The hazy fog floating among the mountains and rivers and the charming ancient-style houses, stone paths and bridges surrounded by the green mountains and clear water all give off the appeal and charm of an ancient Chinese painting. Compared with other villages in Wuyuan, Likeng has the most completely reserved naturalness. Twelve miles from downtown Wuyuan, it is an ancient-style village where a family named Li lives as a compact community.
1.Typical Architecture of Hui-style The architecture here is typical Hui-style,with a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Spread all over the village is ancient architecture from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Residences are built along the river with streams running through the streets and alleys of the village. These, together with the stone paths running in all directions, compose a pretty picture. A small bridge, running water and homes can be regarded as the brilliant stars of Wuyuan.
Though the village has been commercialized, the decorations in these shops have become part of the village’s scenery, especially these graceful oiled paper umbrellas.
2.Honest Residents in Likeng Village Likeng, filled with rich natural flavor, also boasts honest residents. In the autumn sun, what is in sight are villagers working in the fields, an old man dozing in the pavilion, residents washing clothes by the river and sisters making dessert with a smile on their faces. All these go well in an orderly, peaceful and pleasant way, unlike the stirring cities.
Wuyuan is also a famous place for producing tea. In addition to chrysanthemum tea, green tea is another popular tea here. Getting a glass of hot water for tea, you may experience a satisfied afternoon.
