As the old adage goes; if you want quality, you have to be willing to pay for it. The entry-level price for the Apple Watch is £299, and the Watch Edition costs more than £13,000 (121,142 yuan).
The Watch doesn't have the advantage of becoming a family heirloom the way other luxury timepieces do. As the Apple Watch's battery can't be replaced, it will eventually run down and die.
While a couple of thousand pounds could be a reasonable price for an 18 karat gold watch, it's debatable whether consumers will see a smart watch with a finite life as an investment on the same scale.
