Is being single the new norm?

I didn't get married till I was 45. I enjoyed it and was never lonely, maybe bored at times. I watched my friends go through it all and said no thanks. I can't name one couple from back then that are still together to this day. People asked me why I never married. I just told them I never had a gal ask me.
