Should single women be allowed to have kids?

In my opinion most of the stories in Western countries of single parent families suffering financially are people who would suffer regardless of having a child or not, and in some countries a child may even be a misplaced attempt to improve their situation. In Finland, for example, the government pays for you to have a child - money that is intended to guarantee that the child gets what it needs.
I can imagine in China in particular, that if a single woman with good income and some financial stability chooses to have a child and marry, the peer pressure for wedding, house, car, whatever will soon make the families relative financial less stable than they were to begin with. In worst case scenario, the man runs off with the money.
My personal opinion, however politically incorrect it may be, is that single parents who are financially capable of raising a child alone should be allowed to do so.
Government's responsibility should be to supervise that the child gets everything it needs, and that applies to all children from all kind of families, not just single-parent families.
