I feel so sorry for the man being dragged off through random selection by United Airlines to replace a paid passenger with their crew due to overbooking.

Think hard. If this incident happen on Chinese airliners, would the authority ever make a bold decision to remove a non-Asian off his/her seat? I strongly doubt so. In Asia, westerners are viewed and treasured with high respect and we would rather offend our own ethics nationality where it viewed as acceptable. In United Airlines case, it is clearly racial selection being targeted. So folks, welcome to the real world. There is no fairness when race issues preside.
