群团改革(qúntuán gǎigé):Mass organization reform
At a recent symposium on mass organization reform, President Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, said China should firmly adhere to the right direction in order to reform the mass organizations.
Mass organizations refer to some public social organizations such as labor unions, the Communist Youth League and the Women's Federation. In 2015, the CPC Central Committee held a meeting on mass organization work, which lent comprehensive help to mass organization reform. The reform is aimed at improving the structure, management, operation and resource distribution abilities of mass organizations, so that they can better serve the grassroots units. One of the main goals of the reform is to ensure the mass organizations are more closely associated with the people and help the Party to do mass organization work better.
As Xi has said, mass organization work is an important component of the undertakings of the CPC, and the mass organization reform forms an important part of the country's overall reform.
