文旅经济 (wénlǚ jīngjì): Cultural and tourism economy
Centered on the tourism, entertainment and cultural industries, as well as services, the cultural and tourism economy is one of the major drivers for China's growth momentum in the new normal. With government support and capital investment, the cultural and tourism economy is entering a golden age.
The cultural and tourism industries play an active role in promoting employment and driving consumption, as well as propelling the transformation and upgrading of the country's economic structure.
China's annual tourism revenue has increased from 2 billion yuan ($301 million) in 2008 to 4.12 billion yuan in 2015. That year, the tourism investment increased 10 percent from the year before. It is estimated that the overall tourism revenue during the upcoming National Day Golden Week will be more than 600 million yuan.
The central government issued a document supporting land use for tourism in June 2016, which indicates it intends to highly promote the domestic tourism industry.
