Motto: To make progress in each new day

Zhang Chengliang: My technique of drawing is to refine form simplicity and to grasp purity from straightforwardness. Sometimes I mock some styles or learn from classic works. I regard drawing as joking: you should get rid of complicated grammar and express yourself vividly and wisely. What’s more, the progress of drawing cartoons calls for lively inspiration and mature skill, which is just like making a good movie—both drama and an attractive visual effect are necessary. I usually keep my eyes on people and events related to my innovation on the Internet; music, advertisements, and Chinese traditional talk shows can be used to inspire creation. A wide range of hobbies and curiosity are crucial for us. I swim when I feel stressed; when I sink myself under water, I am purified, and my muscles and brain relax, too. In all, the key to finding inspiration is to keep the attitude of aesthetics and explore everything, and of course, relax.
