Bian Yuan has been a photographer
since 1985, and he has shot photos in 40 natural preservation zones. He is
especially known for photographing birds, an area that he has been focusing on
for about 17 years. He has produced over 200,000 pictures.
"My purpose was to show the beauty
of nature when I began to photograph birds. Later, I used my photos to raise
awareness of the need to protect and respect nature," said Bian.
Bian held his first photo exhibition
in August of 1990 in Liaoning Province. In 2002, he won the Golden Statue Award
For Chinese Photography, a highly regarded honor in the Chinese photographic
community. Bian said photography for him is just like love and it is his
spiritual backbone. He said he would hold a photo show this October in
Beijing.
The following photos were taken
between 1989 and 2002 at different natural preservation zones in China. His
