A portrait of Liang Congjie, who died on Oct 28, 2010, at the age of 78 in Beijing. As one of the founders of Friends of Nature, China's first non-governmental environment organization in 1993, the pioneering Chinese activist worked for natural protection such as saving the Hongya natural forest in western Sichuan province, golden monkeys dwelling in Yunnan province and initiating an anti-hunting program of Tibetan antelope in Hoh Xil.
