Top university graduate goes to farm

Graduated from Peking University in 2009, Liu is one of the few who gives up the chance of studying abroad and ventures on farming. "My major is biology, and I love the countryside. More importantly, my classmates and I have discovered the business opportunity of daylily planting,” Liu said. Exporting daylilies to Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou earns him an annual profit of 600,000 yuan to 700,000 yuan ($94,000 to $110,000), and the size of his farms has expanded fourfold since 2010.
