They probably don't make the best neighbors, but try telling them to leave. A group of wild elephants have made Jinghong village in Southwest China's Yunnan province their home since last year. But on Feb 16 one gave birth to a calf in a cornfield just ten meters away from a villager's house. The wild elephants have been harassing the villagers since December last year, attacking people and causing substantial damage to 32.6-hectre fields of bananas, vegetables, rubber and corns. Police have been using fireworks to try to drive elephants back into the forest. [Photo/CFP]
