Flood discharge causes downstream water supply cut

People wait in line to carry back water in buckets from a fire engine in the Yingpanliang District of Guangyuan city, Southwest China’s Sichuan province on May 28, 2013. A flood discharge from a hydropower station upstream of Jialing River on May 26 brought a large flow of sandy water to the area, overwhelming the clarifying capacity of the city’s tap water plants and thereby leaving a large-scale water shortage in the city. Early on Tuesday morning, the water supply had been restored in the main downtown area of the city. [Photo by Liu Ren/Asianewsphoto]
