Xian Yuting picks up a red okra fruit from her roof garden in Guangzhou, provincial capital of South China’s Guangdong province, June 2, 2013. Since 2011, Xian and her husband Liu Guangmi, who are both white collar workers, started to plant vegetables on their roof in their spare time, as homegrown vegetables are fresh, healthy, and inexpensive. Up to now, they have planted 35 kinds of fruits and vegetables. They are basically feeding themselves from their fruits and vegetables, and at harvest times they even spare some for their friends.
